Jaya Guru Datta,

Here is today's saying:

"Sufferings in life are the result of sin, and happiness is the effect of

merit. If we accept this eternal truth based on the experience gained by a

close observation and analysis of human life, life becomes a joyride, a

pleasant passage from the known to the unknown.

Whenever we suffer in life, a part of the sin committed in previous lives,

gets exhausted. The weight of the accumulated karma will be reduced.

Similarly, when we experience happiness, a part of the merit earned by us in

several lives, gets spent. From this it follows that when we strive for and

get joy and happiness in life, we actually lose, and when we suffer, we

stand to gain. Therefore, when happiness comes, accept it with the attitude

that there is no alternative to it and with a spirit of disinterestedness.

This will minimize your loss. Welcome difficulties and adversities with a

smile and meet them with enthusiasm and courage. This will enhance your

gain."
