Guest guest
Swamiji Picked These Verses of the Guru Gita Verse 43 Gurur Brahmaa Guror Vishnuh Gurordevo Maheshwarah / Gurureva Param Brahma Tasmaih Shri Gurave Namah // Guru is Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva and the One Absolute. Obeisance to such a Guru. This has already been stated before. Swamiji repeats this lest you should forget it. By the repetition, you should know how important it is. Verse 44 Akhanda mandalaakaaram Vyaaptam yena charaacharam / Tatpadam darshitam yena Tasmai Shri Gurave namah // TAT + TVAM + ASI means Thou art That. Obeisance to the Sadguru who has enabled me to perceive the Absolute pervading everywhere, the indivisible and the stupendous round denoted by the term TAT of the Mahaa Vaakya TATVAMASI. Verse 48 Chaitanyam Shashwatam shamtam Maayaateetam niranjanam / Naada bindu kalaateetam Tasmaih Sri Gurave Namah // The dynamic spirit is eternal, serene beyond all illusion, and unaffected by anything. It is beyond the celestial sound: the primordial Male and even His mind (NAADABIMDU KALALU). Obeisance to such a Guru who is personification of such a dynamic spirit. Verse 50 Tvam pitaa tvam cha me maathaa Tvam bamdhustvam cha daivatam / Samsaara preeti Bhangaaya Tubhyam Shri Gurave namah // Oh Guru! You are my father, mother and relative. You are my only god. Obeisance to You who drives away my desire of Samsara (worldly life.) Mother showers affection; father is for administration; God is the source of thoughts. You are carried away on the crest of strange illusions of the Samsara. Only your Guru can dispel the delusion, says Swamiji. Verse 57 Na Guroradhikam tatvam Na Guroradhikam tapah / Na Guroradhikam jnaanam Tasmai Shri Gurave namah // There is no other concept superior to Guru --not even penance and knowledge. Obeisance to such a Guru. Penance is nothing but visiting and serving the Guru. Seeking the shelter of Guru is knowledge. Verse 65 Dhyaanamulam gurormoortih Pooja moolam Guroh padam / Mantramoolam Gurorvaakyam Moksha moolam Gurooh krupaa // The image of Guru is the base of meditation. The feet of Guru form the base of worship. The word of Guru is the base of spell. The grace of Guru is the base of redemption. Preamble: Now Swamiji initiates the meditative spell of Guru. Verse 87 Brahmaanamdam parama sukhaadam kevalam jnaanamoortim / Dwamdwaateetam gagana sadrusham tatva masyaadi lakshyam // Ekam nityam vimalamachalam sarvadhi saakshi bhootam / Bhaavaateetam triguna rahitam Sadgurum tam namamyaham // Obeisance to Sadguru who is the source of bliss, giver of great comfort, form of pure knowledge beyond all dualities, sky-like the essence of Mahaavakyaas like TATVAMASI, unique, eternal, pure, steady, witness to all intellect, beyond intellect and who is without the three qualities Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas. Here the term BEYOND is applied twice for duality and the thinking faculty or intellect respectively. It means Guru is free from dualities and waverings of the intellect. Another better term for this is AVISHAYAM (non-subject); but all this has to be known through experience is possible. And this experience is possible only through service to Guru. Preamble: Another meditative spell of Guru. Verse 89 Nityam shuddham niraabhaasam niraakaaram niramjanam / Nitya bodha chidaanamdam gurum Brahma namaamyaham // Obeisance to Guru who is eternal, pure, formless, tranquil, embodiment of truth and knowledge, dynamic, blissful and the replica of the Absolute. The term 'Nitya Bodha'here means that the Guru always teaches. When you are in trouble, if you meditate upon him in loneliness, undoubtedly you will hear His voice. Verse 93 Na Guroradhikam na Guroradhikam Na Guroradhikam na Guroradhikam / Shiva saasanatah Shiva saasanatah Shiva saasanatah Shiva saasanatah // Indeed there is none superior to Guru and this has been stated by Lord Shiva Himself.
