Guest guest
Jaya Guru Datta, Today's saying comes from Satyanarayana, (Swamiji as a young lad,) pondering the insult of His Uncle Krishnappa, who suspected Satya had stolen a watch: “They have not actually insulted me. It is not their mistake. But what has happened is still an insult. Wh then is responsible? Mo one. If so, the action of me getting insulted has taken place with no individual actully insulting me. Then, why the insult, which has no idnividual responsible for, has fallen on my head? So, it must be the result of actions of my past birth. Therefore I have to come to the conclusion that I am responsible for the insult I am experiencing. I see now that if I have to face the insult as a result of my own past actions, without the medium of an outside party, insult can still befall on me. If so, even if there could be an outside party who could still insult me, he cannot insult me if I have not done anything wrong in my past birth. So, even then, if I am insulted, it has to be my own fault. So, whatever the situation may be, I am the only person respoonsible for the insult. If I had to experience the insult because of my past deeds, it will definitely befall on me even in the absence of the medium of another person to insult me. If so, all these days when I had been insulted by Ambamma, (Swamiji's Aunt and teacher,) and others and when I felt that I had excused them and had won over the feeling of hatred, that feeling must have been utterly wrong. If I am responsible for the insutls I faced, what a fool and egotistic person I have to be to think that I have excused them. When there was no enemies in the batlefield, what a cheat I have to be to think that I have achieved victory. There are no wicked people, no betrayers in this world. I am reaping the results of my own wicked actions."
