Jaya Guru Datta,

Here is today's saying:

“At the human level, love is a selfish love. It is a sort of self

protection and security, responsibilty of feelings and understanding of

thoughts. The way people love each other is a temporary love. The love

between Guru and his disciples is a true love. It is a sort of devotion.

The love between husband and wife, children and parents, brothers and

sisters is a different love, it is a sort of physical love which is not

permanent. But the love betwen Guru and disciple is a permanent love,

because finally, all beings need to merge with the cosmos, with God or with

Guru. That is a separate love. This love is devotion, it is without

desires. Your love usually is desire-loving and self-loving. The true love

and dharmic way of love brings satisfaction only through God or Guru. That

is a sort of penance, we call it tapas. This love is a sort of Yoga and

devotion. So finally, human level love is not permanent, the love between

Guru and disciple or God and disciple is permanent.
