Jaya Guru Datta,

Here is today's saying:

“While doing Namasankeertan, one should be sincere and full of devotion.

Namasankeertan, or for that matter, bhajan, cannot, nay, should not, be

mechanical and monotous. One must be imbued with enthusiasm and endowed with a

spirit of surrender for the time being at least, at the altar of the Almighty,

whose glories form the contents of namasankeertan and/or bhajans.

It is well to remember that namasankeertan or bhajan alone is not the temple of

jnaana. It is not the pitch of the voice or the accompaniments that matter in

namasankeertan or bhajan, though they may lend some color to it. What does

really matter is the intensity of the feeling and sincerity with which

namasankeertan is done or bhajan is sung.

Namasankeertan or Bhajan is an expression of supreme devotion which leads to the

knowledge of God. After knowing God as He really is, the devotee enters God and

becomes God, just as a river enters the ocean to beocme itself the ocean."
