Verse 20

 

Atha vyavasthitaan dRishhTvaa DhaartaraashhTraan

kapi-dhvajaH /

pravR^itte shastra-saMpaate dhanur udyamya paaNDavaH

//

 

Hr^ishheekesha.n tadaa vaakyam idam aaha maheepate /

 

Then, O Lord of Earth, seeing Dhrtarashtra's party

being positioned and the discharge of weapons about to

begin, the Pandava (Arjuna), whose ensign was Hanuman,

raising his bow, spoke the following words to Krishna:

 

Verses 21 and 22

 

arjuna uvaacha .

 

Senayor ubhayor madhye ratha.n sthaapaya me.achyuta /

21

 

yaavad etaan nirikshe'haM yoddhu-kaamaan avasthitaan /

Kair mayaa saha yoddhavyam asmin raNa-samudyame // 22

 

O Achyuta, place my chariot in the middle of the two

armies so that I may see those who stand here eager to

fight on the eve of this battle. Let me know with

whom I have to fight.

 

Verse 23

 

Yotsyamaanaan avekshe'haM ya ete'ra samaagataaH /

DhaartaraashhTrasya durbuddher yuddhe

priyachikeershhavaH //

 

For I desire to have a glance at those who are

assembled here to fight, wishing to please the

evil-minded son of Dhrtarashtra.
