Guest guest
Pranams We are devotees of Sathguru Sri Gnanananda Giri Swamiji who was sankaracharya to Jyothi Mutt, one of the four maths found by Sri Adi Sankara Bhagavadpada. Sathguru Gnanananda was a gnani of par excellence. He lived> a very simple yogic life. He never discriminated between the forms of God, whether it is Siva or Vishnu which are only different forms of the same Brahman. He welcomed all sorts of people and presented his way of spirituality which is purely based on love and humanity. He respected even a small boy. He had equal vision to all his devotees whether they are rich or poor, illeterate or learned, brahmin or non-brahmin. He fed to all who come to his Thapovanam. He had travelled far and wide and finally rested at Sri Gnanananda Thapovanam which is in between Tirukovilur and Thiruvannamalai, Tamilnadu. He left his mortal body on 7th January 1974. He was and being worshipped by many great saints, spiritual aspirants and other devotees. Even today his shrine and ashram gives solace to those who come there. It is not possible to write about him fully in this email. You can read "Sathguru Gnanananda" an english book released by Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan during 1975 which is available even now. "Sri Gnanananda Dharisanam" is a tamil book released by one of his disciples Swami Nithyananda Giri which accounts Swami's various ways of compassion poured on his devotees on various occasions. It also gives details about his life sketch. "Gnana Inba Veli" is a book released by the Ashram contains Swami's writings and lectures. You can go through these books if you want to know about him to some extent. We should surrender our ego to the Ultimate and with the grace of Guru and Sathsang our aim should be to find the spark of God within ourselves which is called the Athman. Regarding singing on Sathguru Gnanananda. We believe that Guru is not limited with his mortal body and he always lives as in sukshma roopa (formless form or spirit) in the minds of his devotees. So Swami Gnanananda is our Sathguru and Brahma Guru (the guru ultimate) and it is correct to remember him always and sing in praise of him. The theory of bhajan can be had from www.naamasankeerthanam.com , our friends' website. If you want we can also arrange to send you our bhajan audio tapes. Alternatively if you can arrange bhajan programmes at your place, we can also come over there to perform the same. As you know bhajan is a big ocean of nectar and and it has got so many aspects to be studied. We are basically a non-commercial bhajan group. So we do not intend to charge anything as fees but would like to be charged by the namasankeerthan. Any expenses incurred in sending you the bhajan tapes or to come to your place with our bhajan group has to be met by you. Otherwise, we would like to offer our renderings only as a service to the Lord, ofcourse, the instrumentalists (Mrudangist, Dolkist and Harmonist) should be paid according to the nature of the programme, i.e., whether it is a two hour bhajan or two days programme like Sri Radha Kalyanam. We also render spiritual discourses. We have a bhajan shrine at Ullagaram, Chennai and whatever gifts we get in terms of money or kind is being utilised to meet the maintenance and pooja expenses of the bhajan shrine of Sathguru Sri Gnanananda giri swamiji and Lord Panduranga.
