AUM tatsaditi shreemad.h

bhagavad.hgeetaasuupanishhatsu

brahmavidyaayaa.n yogashaastre

shreekR^ishhNaarjunasa.nvaade

arjunavishhaadayogo naama prathamo.adhyaayaH

Verse 1

 

Sa.njaya uvaacha:

 

Ta.n tathaa kR^ipayaa'vishhTam

ashru-puurNaakul'ekshaNam. /

vishheedantam ida.n vaak{}yam uvaacha MadhusuudanaH //

 

Sanjaya said:

 

To him who was thus overwhelmed with pity, whose eyes

were dimmed with tearss and who was sorrowing,

Madhusudana spoke these words.

 

Verse 2

 

 

Shree Bhagavaan uvaacha .

 

Kutas tvaa kashmalam ida.n vishhame samupasthitam/

anaarya-jushhTam asvargyam akeertikaram arjuna //

 

The Blessed Lord said:

 

O Arjuna, in such a critical situation whence have you

got this dejection, un-Aryan-like (unwelcome to noble

men), unheavenly and disgraceful?
