To answer this question, you'll have to evaluate that

for yourself. Consider what it means to be 'spiritual'

then see if lottery tickets have anything whatsoever

to do with spirituality. If in the end you believe

that they do, godspeed and buy some tickets. On the

other hand, one might come to the conclusion that

there is no correlation between the two, and that one

is free to either buy, or not buy, but to realize that

one shouldn't depend on such things.

 

Money made so easily, is not very useful to you in the

end. Hard work is what gives value to the money that

is made. Further, using such money for good purposes

is beneficial to your self in a spiritual sense,

because it represents a form of 'sacrifice' -- where

you give up your 'attachment' to the fruit of your

hard work. Not to mention that it could do someone who

is less fortunate than yourself a lot of good.

 

As I see it: A question in which you ask whether

something is useful for your own spirituality, is

unspiritual. A question in which you ask what you can

do for someone else is the very heart of spirituality.

 

Finally, I believe firmly that help to others should

be given for the sake of helping them, genuinely, not

so to boost one's own level of spirituality.

Spirituality is not a competition, it is a quest.

 

Anyone else have some thoughts on this?

I think there is a negative relationship between buying lottery tickets and

growing spiritually, because those kind of thoughts changes the Gunas

negatively.
