Guest guest
Jaya Guru Datta, Here is today's saying: “Prana and 'I' are, in a way, very close to each other. A king, along with his staff members, is visiting a village. To the villagers, the decoration of the king and the staff members appear alike. To them it is difficult to say who the king is and who the minister is. Similar is the case with Prana and "I'. But during the state of deep sleep (sushupti), we can recognize the identity of Prana. During the waking state, we may say that because of Prana, Chaitanya (consciousness) is there. But what about the deep sleep state? During the deep sleep state, Prana is very much there, but there is no Chaitanya. Can we assume the Prana appears as though it is devoid of Chaitanya? A small doubt may arise here. Because the Indriyas do not function even though there is Prana, there is no perception. If the Indriyas were to belong to Prana, will they remain idle when their boss, i.e., the Prana, is functioning? Will the servants be idle when the master is working? Therefore, the sense organs do not belong tot he Prana. They belong to Him who remains restful during deep sleep. How is sleep brought about? How does one awake?"
