Guest guest
Jaya Guru Datta, Here is today's saying: “After some time, the Karma to be experienced in the dream state will also get exhausted. Also, the Jeevaatma becomes fatigued due to constantly experiencing pain and pleasure in the wakeful as well as the dream states. To overcome this fatigue, the Jeevatma slips into the deep sleep state. In the wakeful state, both indriyas (sense organs) and the intellect will be functioning. In the dream state, the activities of the sense organs are abolished and intellect alone functions. In both these states, the intellect can functions only because it is closely associated with the Jeevaatma. Because the intellect is functioning the knowledge that 'I exist' is there. By the time the deep sleep state is reached, the activities of the Indriyas will have already become abolished. The intellect will also be immersed in ignorance. The Jeevatma, associated with the intellect, will also get temporarily immersed in ignorance. Therefore, in the deep sleep state, the experience of 'I exist' is not there."
