Guest guest
Jai Guru Datta Ram, I do not have virus. I do not open attachments to get them. The intention was not to blame nor express negativity, as I have none. When all the names appearing as sender containing these attachments have Hindi/Indian/Vedic origins, and the only group I have d is JaiGuruDatta, _and_ the understanding of how worms work with email addresses, I was just adding a further word of caution to those who may be taken in by the sweet invitations of those wishing destruction. Guest guest
this seems to be a hoax, see below. yet in general it is good to have an antivirus software such as norton antivirus and to update it regularly. and maybe not to use any aol or outlook etc addressbook, not to open any attachment when not having an antivirus software. and not to receive any mails at work that might contain any viruses/worms, JGD from www.sophos.com: Important Many virus hoaxes: falsely claim to describe an extremely dangerous virus use pseudo-technical language to make impressive-sounding (but impossible) claims falsely claim that the report was issued or confirmed by a well-known company ask you to forward it to all your friends and colleagues As usual, you are urged not to pass on warnings of this kind, as the continued re-forwarding of these hoaxes simply wastes time and email bandwidth. It is possible that you may receive a hoax via email with a file attached. Obviously, such file attachments should be treated with caution as they may be virus infected. Sophos recommends deleting virus hoax emails, whether they contain file attachments or not. Sophos suggests a policy to help prevent hoaxes from spreading in your company. Description of hoax: JDBGMGR Aliases Teddy, JDBMGR, JBDGMGR, Teddybear, BlankA Type Virus hoax Description JDBGMGR.EXE is the Microsoft Debugger Registrar for Java. The program uses an icon of a grey teddybear. Some versions of the hoax misreport the name of this file as JDBMGR.EXE or JBDGMGR.EXE. Although it is possible for the file to be infected by a virus, it has also been the subject of a hoax. Some versions of the hoax mistakenly claim that deleting the file JDBGMGR.EXE is a solution to the W32/Bugbear-A</\ A> worm. This misconception has almost certainly come about because JDBGMGR.EXE has an icon of a small grey teddybear. Note: The W32/Magistr-A virus is known to infect the file JDBGMGR.EXE (this is unconnected with the hoax) so Sophos recommends users delete the file if they ever receive it as an email attachment. This hoax is very similar to the SULFNBK hoax. It has been reported in English, French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, German, Polish, Danish and other languages. Here is the text of the hoax in English: I found the little bear in my machine because of that I am sending this message in order for you to find it in your machine. The procedure is very simple: The objective of this e-mail is to warn all Hotmail users about a new virus that is spreading by MSN Messenger. The name of this virus is jdbgmgr.exe and it is sent automatically by the Messenger and by the address book too. The virus is not detected by McAfee or Norton and it stays quiet for 14 days before damaging the system. The virus can be cleaned before it deletes the files from your system. In order to eliminate it, it is just necessary to do the following steps: 1. Go to Start, click "Search" 2.- In the "Files or Folders option" write the name jdbgmgr.exe 3.- Be sure that you are searching in the drive "C" 4.- Click "find now" 5.- If the virus is there (it has a little bear-like icon with the name of jdbgmgr.exe DO NOT OPEN IT FOR ANY REASON 6.- Right click and delete it (it will go to the Recycle bin) 7.- Go to the recycle bin and delete it or empty the recycle bin. IF YOU FIND THE VIRUS IN ALL OF YOUR SYSTEMS SEND THIS MESSAGE TO ALL OF YOUR CONTACTS LOCATED IN YOUR ADDRESS BOOK BEFORE IT CAN CAUSE ANY DAMAGE." - hoax text end Add live hoax information to your website or intranet
