LESSONS FROM BHAGAVAD GITA – 9 As taught by Parama Pujya Sri Swamiji Compiled by: Swami Dattananda Bhakti Mala, December 1992 Sri Krishna explains to Arjuna that it is not enough if a man controls his senses to attain liberation. He should also destroy the craving or taste for the sense objects that dwell in his mind. If the craving for sense objects is not destroyed, one day or other, even a wise man attracted by the beauty of sense objects will run after them and invite his own ruin. To make clear this point to Arjuna, Sri Krishna says, “O Arjuna, the turbulent senses forcibly carry away the mind of even a wise man, striving after perfection” (Chapter 2, Verse 60). Therefore, destruction of Vasanas (taste for sense-objects) is more important than control of the sense. Mother's Day is May 12th!
