LESSONS FROM BHAGAVAD GITA – 15 As taught by Parama Pujya Sri Swamiji Compiled by: Swami Dattananda Bhakti Mala, July 1993 The third chapter deals with Karma Yoga elaborately. Why should action be performed? How should it be performed? Which action is the best for fulfillment of our life? The answers for such questions have been given in this chapter. In the beginning, Arjuna has a doubt. He puts a question to Lord Krishna. He asks, “Oh Janardana, if according to You, knowledge is superior to action, then why do You engage me in this terrible action?” (Chapter 3, Verse 1). In the second chapter, in the middle of the discourse, the Lord wants Arjuna to carry out his duty in the form of fighting. Again, the Lord says in the last verse that one attains the highest state called Brahmi State by giving up all desires and ‘mine-thine’ distinctions. On hearing this, Arjuna gets a doubt in his mind. He thinks if the path of action is inferior and that of knowledge is superior, why should he take to the path of action, which will involve him in a dreadful action. Why should he not elevate himself by following the path of knowledge and attain the bliss of the Brahmi State? LAUNCH - Your Music Experience http://launch.
