Guest guest
Jaya Guru Datta, Here is today's saying: “If the state of witness were to be considered as a distinct entity, we will face a paradox. If we accept that there exists a state beyond the three states, it will imply that it is impossible to know the nature of Atman because, in such a case, we must accept another witness, which will testify the existence of a fourth state. If we accept it, the fifth, the sixth, the seventh . . . states will have to be accepted. Finally we, will be forced to conclude that the Atman is a Shoonya (void, non-existent). So far, we imposed upon the Atman several attributes pertaining to the Buddhi. If Atman were to be non-existent, how then can we superimpose anything on it? Only when there is a rope, a snake or a garland can be superimposed upon it. If there is no rope, then no superimposition is possible Similarly, if the Atman is non-existent, then all the superimposition upon it becomes non existent! This is not allowed! It is not logically allowed. All these paradoxes arise because we assume that Tureeya is a distinct state. It is therefore wrong to consider it as a separate state. To summarise, there is no state called Tureeya beyond the three states (wakeful, dream and deep sleep states). That which is present in all the three states uninterruptedly is the Atman. That itself is the 'witness'. To aid convenient and easy understanding, a fourth state called Tureeya has been named. Sri Guru Datta, Swamiji Says ______ Outgrown your current e-mail service?
