LESSONS FROM BHAGAVAD GITA - 18 As taught by Parama Pujya Sri Swamiji “Do you carry out obligatory actions, for action is superior to inaction, and even the bare maintenance of the body would not be possible if you are inactive” (Chapter 3, Verse 8). No one can gain anything by being inactive. By inaction, even the bare maintenance of the body becomes impossible. So work definitely is superior to idleness or non-performance of action. Therefore, under all circumstances, one must at least perform one’s obligatory duties or the work that has been laid down as one’s duty. Remaining idle in the name of renunciation and wandering here and there will not make anyone a yogi or a person of enlightenment. On the other hand, work that is done without attachment to fruits and with purity of thought is definitely a means to Self-Realization. - Official partner of 2002 FIFA World Cup http://fifaworldcup.
