By performing actions without attachment, man attains the Supreme. LESSONS FROM BHAGAVAD GITA – 21 As taught by Parama Pujya Sri Swamiji Compiled by: Swami Dattananda Bhakti Mala, July 1994 To attain the highest position of the perfect Man of Self-Realization, the Lord exhorts Arjuna to perform his duties without attachment to results. “Therefore,” the Lord says, “unattached, perform actions which are obligatory. By performing actions without attachment, man attains the Supreme.” Keeping the fruits of work for oneself is selfishness. By doing selfish actions, no one can reach the supreme state of Godhead. On the other hand, giving up attachment to the fruits of one’s works and sacrificing the same for the well being of all, enables one to attain the highest. As long as one has not attained to the perfect state of Godhead, one has to perform duties pertaining to one’s life without attachment. By performing actions in this way and offering the results to God, one can attain the Highest even in this life. - Official partner of 2002 FIFA World Cup http://fifaworldcup.
