Guest guest
Jai Guru Datta! Regarding the purpose of the listserv, I do not think it is inappropriate to send humorous items to the listserv. I think humor can be used in postive ways to enlighten people spiritually, Swamiji often uses humor in his speeches because it is a way for people to relate. Love and humor are closely linked, both are emotions of affection, much in the same way that Swamiji touches us with spiritual affection. Specifically regarding 'secular' items of interest, I also do not think this is out of line for the listserv purposes, as the listserv is meant for a discussion between Datta devotees and devotees have interests of all sorts. My discussions with devotees do not always revolve around simply spiritual matters, they are my friends and my family, therefore I speak to them about all types of matters. I think it is very important not to isolate devotees by stating what is acceptable and what is un-acceptable. Those distinctions can come from Swamiji alone. I think it is understandable to voice your opinon, but please allow leeway for free speech. The listserv has become very 'high-brow', please be aware of that. Do not isolate people further. This is not intended to be critical, but simply offer my opinion. Feel free to disregard it if you do not agree. -Maunica
Guest guest
Jaya Guru Datta, I do agree with what you say. I have created a second email account just for jaigurudatta, so that my other mailbox isn´t overcharged and I don´t lose sight of important mails, e.g business mails. I think that too harsh criticism may destroy trust, and without trust a family cannot exist. This is my personal view. No need to attach to either criticizing or confirming it. We are all one.
