Guest guest
Jaya Guru Datta, This is just a quick note to help people deal with some of the unusual types of posting on this list. Anyone has the ability to join this list. The way to join it is posted, I believe, on the dattapeetham page. If not, you can just go to the page and do a search for applicable groups under say, Hinduism, and I am quite sure this list will come up. That said, many people use the web and its myriad mailing lists for commercial purposes. There are even courses in doing so. The bottom line is, any list, including ours, is going to have interlopers who want to reach people like us to sell us something or to attract more people to their websites. Chances are they put their 'ad' out and never read the list again. As it is a one-time inconvenience, it is far better to delete the e-mail than to have a discussion about it. I could be wrong, but I am fairly certain that the recent e-mail asking for jokes, news, gossip, etc. about India or Hinduism was from someone who is not a devotee, or with serious interest in this list. (If I am wrong, and it came from a fellow devotee, then perhaps we do need to discuss what belongs on this list.) I guess my way of seeing things, in light of the fact that people will use this list to advertise their particular service, is that unless somebody posts something inappropriate to the list twice, it shouldn't bear discussion. It is a problem that will go away by itself. Sri Guru Datta, Mahesh
