Guest guest
Jaya Guru Datta, Here is today's saying: “When a rope is mistaken for a snake, the rope is considered as the Adhishthana (substratum, supporting basis) for the snake. Because of the nature of the substratum was not known, we imposed snake on it. But when the reality is revealed, the superimposition that arises from ignorance will vanish automatically. Once we know that it is only a piece of rope, we have no more delusion that it is a snake. Similarly, the substratum for this apparent world is Brahman. In the above examples, the rope, the mirage etc., can be seen. But it is not so in the case of Brahman. Still, when the knowledge of Brahman (which is the substratum) sets in, the world that is superimposed on it will vanish automatically. We will then realise that there is no world distinct from Brahman. It was stated that ignorance is the root cause for superimposition. How? We shall learn about this in the next lessons."
