LESSONS FROM BHAGAVAD GITA – 28

As taught by Parama Pujya Sri Swamiji

"O Arjuna, thus handed down in regular succession, the

royal sages have known this yoga. Due to a long lapse

of time, this yoga has perished in this world."

This yoga, which had come down to the royal sages

through tradition, was in vogue for a long period of

time as a spiritual path. But after a long lapse of

time, it disappeared from the earth.

The royal sages were the first recipients of this yoga

from the Sun God, who got it from the Lord. Those

royal sages were all famous kings and monarchs. They

ruled over their kingdoms, not as kings, but as

servants of the people. They dedicated their whole

lives for the service and betterment of their people.

They were Karma Yogis of the highest order. Through

Nishkama Karma, (selfless actions,) they attained to

the status of the sages. So they were called Raja

Rishis (royal sages.) These rulers were adept in

worldly matters as well as spiritual knowledge.
