DISCOURSE BY H.H. SRI SWAMIJI FROM THE 60TH YEAR BIRTHDAYCELEBRATIONS -

ON SUPPORTING THE ANNADANA PROGRAMMES - JUNE 19. 2002

 

Sri Swamiji gave the following discourse in English to the foreign devotees

on the fifth day of His Birthdaycelebrations. Swamiji is urging us to

support His various projects, especially the Annadana feeding programmes:

 

"I'm giving special advice to my Dattafamily. Please, I don't want to say,

"Please" I'm giving order! As much as possible, more and more to participate

in all the programmes. Indirectly Seva-programmes are going to Annadana

support (Anna - food, Dana - gift, offering, charity). You can also take

pledge today and onwards: "I'm sending moneytransfer to bank." - Little

money enough! So everybody take oath, that you will support the cause.

Annadana is always there, helping poor people.

 

My mainpart is Annadana, always eating, eating - Bhojana. So I think you can

take responsibility for your Dattapeetham Ashrama, for our family Ashrama.

This Annadana indirectly we are also eating here. What is the Danam? We are

giving Danam, we are giving Swamiji the namelist here and we are sitting

eating here - like fashionable hotel! Like this! So I think if you eat one

meal, please support ten meals, then Danam will be supported. You are

supporting one meal and are eating ten meals - it's not good! Rest of the 9

meals gives Swamiji a problem! Then other programmes is going to be

ticket-programmes - it's not good!

 

"All the time I want Swamiji special Pujas, special Sevas, special Annadana

Sevas, special everything, Linga Puja, special Ganga Seva, Milchpuja special

and Paduka Puja special!" Not good! Swamiji wearing sari is a special

Wearing Seva! What is this? I don't like, I don't understand! After 60th

Year Birthday there will be a lot of changing here in coming. You may be

afraid. This is only one way traffic and I'm the only person who is doing

everything - one way! Please support! As much as possible support - don't

hesitate! No calculations like, "I'm giving one thousand yesterday -

enough!" No, this is a wide elephant, you must support, support, support,

always support!

 

This is our Ashrama. It's our Jayalakshmi Mata, Ganapati Ashrama. Our

Ashrama! As much as possible do the programmes and support the Hundi.

 

You can support My projects, then many people gets happy - thousands of

people gets happy for Annadana. And Vidyadana - we are having 2000

schoolchildren in school, Swamiji is supporting the schoolpeople.

 

Ask any Nada people, any artist. They say it is good support Swamiji is

giving. If you ask Veda scholars they say, "I'm very happy Swamiji is

supporting and Swamiji is giving courage." If you go and ask poor people,

"Oh, Swamiji is giving food and clothes!" So in the various Sevas you must

participate. Don't hesitate.

 

Some European devotees say, "We are participating in all the Sevas, but in

the name of Swamiji." - finished! They don't want to take Prasadam, so they

also cut their diet. We are coming only in the line, doing Namaskara and

going back. What is this? Enough - one time enough! I got one European

devotee who says, "I got enough, You can give to other people!"

 

So we are supporting our family. Our European people says, "I got yesterday

- I don't want. I want to be near to Swamiji, thats all!" How many lacks of

things will you put in your house? Give some to others! I say, It's a good

lesson, European people are giving.

 

Continue this Annadana project. If you give Dana, I will give Ghyana! -

Thats all!"
