LESSONS FROM BHAGAVAD GITA – 31 As taught by Parama Pujya Sri Swamiji “In whatever way men approach Me, in the same way I bless them, O Arjuna, in all ways men tread paths leading to Me.” The Lord blesses the people in keeping with the motive or desire of the people who come to Him. If a man worships the Lord to enjoy the fruits of His actions, the Lord sanctions the fruits. Those who want their worldly sorrows to be removed, the Lord sees that their sorrows are removed. To those who perform actions in the spirit of Karma Yoga, that is, without any selfish motive, to them the Lord grants Divine Knowledge and brings about their spiritual elevation. Those who want salvation, the Lord is pleased to grant it. Desire for salvation is not given to all people. Most of the people worship God for the fulfillment of their earthly desires. Those who are suffering from disease pray to God for its removal. Others worship God for wealth, prosperity, and good family life. This class of people does not want spiritual elevation. But because they have chosen to worship God, although for the gratification of their selfish desires, God is pleased to bless them and their desires are fulfilled. Another class of people worships God for divine knowledge and occult powers, and after obtaining which they preach the same to others and thus earns a name and fame. But the best class of devotees is those who worship God because they love God and they cannot help it. They get salvation. ‘In all ways, Men tread paths leading to Me!” All people are going along the path that will lead them to the Lord. The followers of the path of knowledge, (Jnana Yoga,) the followers of the path of action, (Karma Yoga,) and those who follow the path of sense enjoyment, all will reach, in due course, the highest spiritual achievement. Some may reach earlier and some late. This is all the difference. According to their Samskaras, (tendencies,) some go along the shorter route and others take to a longer one. Even those who are after sensual enjoyments, sooner or later, would come to the path that would take them to the Lord. After having experienced the tension, pain and sufferings involved in such a life, they will give up their sensuous pursuits and turn their minds to God. Thus, one day or other, they are sure to reach the path that will lead them to God. The idea is that the Lord does not bless anyone, due to attachment, or withhold, due to aversion. The Lord resorts to His devotees in the way they approach Him. In all conceivable ways, people tread paths leading to Him alone. Sign up for SBC Dial - First Month Free http://sbc.
