Here is today's saying:

 

“The combination of the Satva aspects of the five subtle elements gives rise to

the Indriya called Antahkarana (the internal organ, the inner instrument).

There are four aspects in this instrument. They are Manas (mind), Buddhi

(intellect), Chitta (memory) and Ahankara (ego).

 

That which causes Samkalpa (resolve, volition) and Vikalpa (doubt, alternative)

is called Manas. That which makes decisions is called Buddhi. That which

remembers the past events is called Chitta and that which asserts (that which

gives the sense of individuality) as 'I am' is Ahankara. (Some say that

Antahkarana has only two aspects - Manas and Buddhi. Here, Manas includes

Chitta and Buddhi includes Ahankara).
