Jaya Guru Datta,

Here is today's saying:

“In the previous lesson, we learned about Vikshepa Shakti. If the entire

creation were o be the play of Vikshepa Shakti (power of projection), what then

is the function of Avarana Shakti?

Actually, even before Vikshepa Shakti can play its role, Avarana Shakti will

have performed its function. This Shakti, like darkness, will veil us so that

that which exists can not be comprehended. Then Vikshepa Shakti, instead of

creating the knowledge "I am not able to comprehend', will create the wrong

notion that 'I am the body'.

In reality, the body, along with its five sheaths (explained in earlier lessons)

is all false super impositions made on the Atma by the erring mind. Actually,

there is no relation between the five sheaths and the Atma just as there is no

actual relation between the rope and the snake imposed upon it by the erring

mind. Avarana Shakti veils the mind so that the difference between the two can

not be appreciated. Then the false notion that 'I am the body' sets in.

Similarly, the same Shakti will make the person to believe that the world, the

planets, the universes are all real although such plurality is only an illusion

and only Parabrahman exists.”
