LESSONS FROM BHAGAVAD GITA – 41 As taught by Parama Pujya Sri Swamiji Compiled by: Swami Dattananda Bhakti Mala, April 1996 “Others of regulated food sacrifice vital breaths. All these also are knowers of sacrifice, whose sins are destroyed by sacrifice” (Chapter 4, Verse 30). Those who offer the vital breath (Prana breath) into the vital breath (Prana breath) sacrifice in the vital breath (Prana breath) all other functions of the vital breath. In other words, in the breath that is mastered other vital breaths appear as though they entered into it. Those who practice breath control regulate their food habits. Regulation of food is also a yajna. One should avoid at all cost overeating, undereating, irregularity in eating and accepting food from all types of people. Impure food definitely makes the mind impure. Food items like meat, onion, garlic, spices, etc. induce physical aberrations like indulgence in sex, irritability of temper and other undesirable impulses. All the spiritual disciplines described hitherto are called yajnas (sacrifices.) Those who practice any of these disciplines are called knowers of sacrifice (yajna vida.) The knowers of sacrifice by means of their sacrifice cleanse all defilements of mind and attain emancipation. Health - Feel better, live better http://health.
