Verse 35

Knowing which, O Arjuna. You will no longer be deluded

as you now are; and by which you shall see all beings

in the Self (your own Self) and in Me.

LESSONS FROM BHAGAVAD GITA – 42

As taught by Parama Pujya Sri Swamiji

“Knowing which, O Arjuna. You will no longer be

deluded as you now are; and by which you shall see all

beings in the Self (your own Self) and in Me.”

The Lord tells Arjuna that knowing the truth that

everything rests in Him (the God, The Supreme Self,)

Arjuna will no longer be deluded. Knowing the meaning

of words is not knowledge. Knowledge means one’s

being able to have a direct experience for oneself to

the effect that his own Self is in all beings, and

from the creator Brahma down to sticks and stones, all

beings are in the Supreme Self. This knowledge is the

highest. He who has a direct experience of this

knowledge never gets deluded.

“Knowing which, Arjuna, you will no longer be deluded

as you are now’ – The idea is that Arjuna is now under

delusion. He wants to break away from the war due to

his attachment to his kith and kin. Attachment leads

one to infatuation. He then does actions motivated by

selfish ideas and thus he gets bound by his own

actions. But as soon as knowledge is secured, he is

freed from his bewilderment and all sorts of

attachments. On attachment and infatuation having

been dispelled, he does not get inclined to do sinful

actions. Therefore, with the dawn of knowledge,

Arjuna’s bewilderment will disappear and he would see

not only his kith and kin but all beings as his own

Self and all Selves in the Lord, who is the Supreme

Self.
