Jaya Guru Datta,

 

Here is today's saying:

 

“We understood about 'Adhyaropa', in the previous lessons. Based on our

understanding, we have also come to know that there are seven stages. These are

called as Sapta Sopanas (Sapta - seven, sopana - step). They are:

 

Ajnaana (ignorance)

 

The two Avaranas (veils) namely Asattvaavarana

(the cause of thinking that which exists does not exist, such as thinking God

and Atma do not exist) and Abhaanaavarana

(the thought 'I am not able to say if God exists or not')

 

Vikshepa (protection)

Paroksha Jnana (indirect knowledge)

Aparoksha Jnana (direct knowledge)

Duhka nivritti (respite from suffering) and

Ananda prapti (attainment of happiness)"
