LESSONS FROM BHAGAVAD GITA – 43 As taught by Parama Pujya Sri Swamiji “Verily there exists nothing in the world as purifying as knowledge. One who has become perfected by yoga realizes that by himself in course of time.” There is nothing here comparable to knowledge as purifier. The man who is purified and intent on liberations through the practice of yoga (Karma Yoga and yoga of concentration) acquires this knowledge in due course of time within himself. So where is this knowledge? Is it in the universities or the temples or ashrams? Man has always been running in search of this knowledge in the outside world. But he cannot find it anywhere because it is in his own Self. Therefore he has to turn his mind within himself. As the physical body is to be cleaned by water and soap everyday, mind also needs cleansing. It can be cleared by doing selfless actions, worship and meditation. But the best purifier is the knowledge. When the mind becomes completely pure, knowledge becomes manifest. As a man continues his spiritual disciplines, the mind gradually drops off its taints and blemishes and then knowledge automatically becomes manifest in the mind, just as when the clouds disappear the sun is revealed.
