LESSONS FROM BHAGAVAD GITA – 45 As taught by Parama Pujya Sri Swamiji Again, in the following verse, the karma yogi who is free from the pairs of opposites is praised. The Lord says: “He should be known as a constant renouncer who neither hates nor desires. For, free from the pairs of opposites, O Mighty-armed Arjuna, he is easily liberated from bondage” (Chapter 5, Verse 3). That performer of karma yoga who neither hates anything nor seeks anything should be known as a man of constant renunciation. The idea is he who continues to be like this in the midst of pain and pleasure should be known as a man of constant renunciation even though engaged in actions. Therefore, he who has abandoned hatred and desire is the real sanyasi or man of renunciation. Elimination of the negative tendencies of the mind is the real renunciation. And he who has done that, although engaged in work, is easily liberated from bondage.
