What is Sri Anaghashtami Vratam?

Anagha means sinless. In general we commit a number of sins by our deeds,

words and thought. These sins prevent us from progressing. The Couple that

destroys these types of sins are Anagha Swami and Anagha Dêvi, who protect

the people in the world.

Although Sadguru Lord Dattatrêya is highly recognized as Avadhoota, many

scholars are unaware of His householder role. For the role His Holiness

plays as householder, Dattatrêya is known as Anagha Swami. His wife Anagha

Dêvi is incarnation of Lakshmi Dêvi. To this sanctimonious divine couple,

Ashtasiddis (eight powers) were born as sons.

In Krita Yuga, King Kartaviryarjuna performed this vratam for invincibility

and Ashta Sidhis.

In Treta Yuga, King Dasaratha and his son Lord Rama also performed the

Anagha Vratam.

In Dwapara Yuga, Lord Sri Krishna narrated Anagha Vratam to Dharmaraja.

In Kali Yuga, Anagha Vratam has been revived in recent times by the grace of

our Sadguru Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swamiji.

If you can not attend personally, Priest Sri Shankaramanchi Sharma will

perform vratam on your behalf.
