The tests are meant for not hurting you.But to remove your ego which is an obstacle to reach the brahma stiti or gurus grace. Actually the best way here is not try to analyse the things with your own intellect of what your guru is doing. A mother always loves her children at all times and gives punishment to her children only to put them on right path . we should not say that as test or like that because if you are not subjected to punishment you will be going down to bottom levels. so to keep you on the track some times this is necessary.a doctor always do opeartion only to protect his patients like guru the infinite bliss always try to put his disciple in right path by all means with his infinite grace. To know a simple subject in engineering you have spend 22 years of your life under strict vigilance of your parents and lecturers even than after we know only 1% of the total subject.even you do master degree or phd work also there is no end for learning when it comes to our day today life.ok now coming to spritual life guru is nothing but the supreme power or incarnation of god. It is not possible for any one to tell about the god.only god himself can tell about his tatva by bhajans and books. Datta darshan book is meant for understanding datta tattva.In guru tatva there is nothing to understand because guru is always right. Only thing here is to surrender our self and follow the master then every thing you will know on your own.If u put considerble amount of efforts in following his teachings and orders than every thing is crystal clear. so even in spiritual path also you spend at least 10 to 12 years under your guru than it is ok.Because we need to put the efforts. In swamijis life history there are very beautiful phrases i am quoting one here what should the disciple know? 1. To do exactly what the guru says 2. Guru knows what to tell and when to tell? You please go through guru geeta also. So it is a very good question .i Tried to give my best here. for better understanding go through life history and guru geeta.But self surrender is most important here.if u are surrendering atmarphana than all these questions wont arise .
