Guest guest
Jaya Guru Datta SGS Ashram at Pondicherry, South India One of the lesser known branches of Datta Peetham is at Pondicherry, situated on the banks of seasonal rivulet Sankarabharani. Planned and built by the French, this small city is famed for its pristine beach Road, old styled buildings, Philosopher Aurubindo's Ashram at Auroville and French Institute. The city is well connected by East Coast Road from Chennai (2 hours drive). Though the picturesque and scenic Ashram site was acquired in 1995 and Guru Nilayam were constructed a year later, activities were on low key. Pondicherry was a former French Colony until late 1940s. Gnana Bodha Sabha was founded in 1985. Ganapati Homa and Paduka Abhishekam are performed every Poornima. Blesses by Sri Swamiji, Bhumi Puja for the construction of New Prayer Hall, Paduka Mandapam, Kitchen and Staff Quarters was performed on the auspicious Kartika Poornima day.
