Guest guest
To my fellow devotees: In my humble opinion, I really think it is not appropriate to scold or threaten people about acceptable uses of the jaigurudatta mailing list. To me this is not conducive to seeking truth. I, for one, appreciate the fact that baheusa sent the email about Christians converting Hindus--I'd like to know about such a topic, since it is important to my spiritual growth and to my life work. Further, I think it an important part of this email forum to be able to share such information: if we can't discuss this sort of thing here, among friends and fellow devotees of Sri Swamiji, then where should we discuss it? I find it noteworthy that baheusa's email stimulated a discussion of different religious beliefs, reflection on them and maybe--just maybe-- some of you even learned something new! To me true spirituality has to do with understanding and dealing with the dirtiest things in the Universe: just look at all the stuff Sri Swamiji has to deal with, what with everyone's problems and karmas and samskaras and such. He doesn't say he doesn't want this stuff in his space because it's not holy or clean or of particular interest to him or not something he wants to do! Why should we behave any differently? Last time I checked I wasn't living in a vacuum--and I don't believe anyone else on this list does either; it is the Kaliyuga and it behooves all of us to be aware and knowledgeable of the forces surrounding us--dark, misguided or otherwise--and especially as spiritual aspirants. That is the way of seeking truth. Now if it is the case that I'm "a day late and a dollar short" and this email group was set up to only talk about clean and pretty things or Sri Swamiji's travel schedule then I apologize for taking your time and space, and will withdraw myself from the list. I'm on a spiritual path, and my purpose is to learn and grow--and to do that I know I need to delve into subjects I might not normally or intentionally pursue. I am also open to God's will and the magic of synchronicity, since things are often sent my way when I least expect them to teach me a lesson. Therefore, if this group is not open to diverse information and opinions regarding religion and spirituality for the purpose of spiritual growth for all, then I'll go somewhere that is. Finally, it is my personal belief that Sri Swamiji periodically works through people on this list to teach some of us something we need to learn at that time. As such I believe we should all be more open to diverse subjects and points of view. Jai Guru Datta-- Michelle
Guest guest
Jai Guru Datta! Blessings to you, Michelle. I concur with your views. The postings by Agastya and others of today has encouraged devotees to talk about their own spiritual discoveries and I believe has strengthened their devotion to Sri Swamiji. vasanta - "mfoster" <mfoster <jaigurudatta> Cc: <baheusa Tuesday, December 17, 2002 6:09 PM Sharing Information on JaiGuruDatta > To my fellow devotees: > > In my humble opinion, I really think it is not appropriate to scold or > threaten people about acceptable uses of the jaigurudatta mailing > list.
