Jai Guru Datta!

Sanctum Sanctorum on the stage was beautifully decorated with life size

picture of Sri Swamiji, fairly large picture of Sri Raja Rajeswari Devi and

Lord Dattatreya. All the pictures were decorated with beautiful flowers

garlands. It was so beautiful and felt as if Sri Swamiji was there on the

stage. In front of the pictures, on a small pedestal covered with Red Silk

cloth, kalasham was placed. In front of the coconut on kalasham, picture of

the Sri Surya Deva (Sun God) was drawn beautifully. It was as if the Sri

Surya Deva (Sun God) himself has come to accept the prayers.

During the pooja, navagrahas were invited (Avahana). After this, Sri Surya

Deva were invited (Avahana). Red Silk cloth, Red flowers (Carnation & Rose),

Red ornaments (garland made with corals) and prasadam made from wheat grain

were offered to Sri Surya Deva. Sri Sankaramanchi Sharmaji, Chief Priest,

Datta Temple, Baton Rouge, LA, USA said that Sri Surya Deva likes all the

above.

Sri Sankaramanchi Sharmaji chanted Arunam from Yajurveda. It was unique,

melodious and we have never heard anything similar before. Many present at

the function said that they felt very peaceful during pooja and in

particular during Arunam chanting. We sang two bhajans on Sri Surya Deva:

Saptasvarudam and Bhaskaram Saptasvarudam. We read parts from the speech

Sri Swamiji gave in London in August, 2002.

Everyone present accepted prasadam from Sri Sankaramanchi Sharmaji and went

to enjoy delicious lunch prepared by several Dallas volunteers.

By the grace of our Sadguru Sri Swamiji, may all the participants be blessed

with long, happy, healthy, prosperous and peaceful life.

Sri Guru Datta! Jai Guru Datta!

Sirish Poondla.
