Guest guest
Jai Gurudeva Datta, we started the discussion by the word compassion. Which led to spontaneous actions, stupid actions and now adharmic actions. Next to the beneath reactions i would like to say: Adharmamo Naashanamo Naashanamo. Sri Guru Datta, Win Ad[1] Sri Swamiji has said to study Sri Guru Gita by for example reading it at least 7 times. By this method of repeating one can build up an "understanding" that forms the basis for "thinking". One who meditates(Dhyana) repeats the same thing to get better understanding of that. (This is nothing new.) .. ad[2] I agree, we should study Sri Swamiji His words, he has said to do this in one of His recent speeches. Further see ad[1] .. ad[3] see ad[2] .. ad[4] The quotation of Bhaja Govindam was to indicate the usage of the word "fool"(stupido) by the Great Shankaracharya an avatar of Lord Shiva. ..I agree that people should feel free to participate in discussions. .. ad[5] Dont forget we are discussing and in discussions one uses arguments. .. ad[6] Sri Guru Ashtakam according to my understanding gives summary of Guru Tattva. .. Pradyumna Upadrashta <oneinfinitezero wrote: [1]to simply take refuge in scripture is to back away from understanding. .. [2]Furthermore, to simply quote Swamiji -- without spending more than a second analyzing the depth of his statements -- doesn't lead you anywhere. .. [3]It is not enough to memorize Sri Swamiji's words -- but to understand their depth and significance is the point of it all. .. [4]I ask that people stop being afraid to think, to say what is on their minds, to get to the truth; rather than point each other towards this scripture and that, .. [5]which is like a blind man, showing another blindman a videotape of the truth and being content that there is such a videotape in existence without having tasted the nectar of that truth. What is the point? A truth which you haven't personally tasted, is useless and meaningless. .. [6]People keep repeating "focusing on the sadguru's feet is the only solution" in one way or another -- but has anyone really thought about what this IMPLIES? It doesn't mean taking a picture of his foot and training your mind to remember that. Go deeper into the meaning of things. Staring at his feet is no more elevating than staring at mine -- people need to spend time THINKING about what Sri Swamiji says.
