Guest guest
jaya guru datta dear friends here is a wonderful article about marataktha rajarajeshwari temple-which was printed in local newspaper of vijayawada on 15th february.this article was read out before sriswamiji on 15th before sriswamiji departed on his further andhra tour after a long stay in vijayawada. i was very much moved by this article and thought many might be interested to know these facts,so i tried my best to translate this article(do excuse me if i couldnt do justice-this is my first attempt of any translations) i had the blessed oppurtunity of attending the wonderful kumbhabhishekam of this magnificent temple.one cannot describe the marvel of this temple and mother goddess.one only need to personally experiance it after visting this place.if u stand in front of the temple u get lost of ur surroundings and have a feeling of belonging to some ancient time. many might have made a mind to visit this place after seeing the photos and the report in the net,but if u read the facts given in the article ur eagerness doubles! here is the article......... sometimes in certain situations u feel entralled and ecstatic and feel that u need to preserve this event in goldenwords.now what has happened in vijayawada before our eyes is exactly such an event. nowhere in the world is such atemple.it is a fortune for andhra esp vijayawada to have the "marakata treasure". there are many mother goddess temples from kashmir to kanyakumari.we know ashtadhasha peetas, dhwadhasha peetas, panchashata peetas. different temple have shapes, different names, different kinds of stones used for carving the idol, different colours, but never in the past anyone selected a markatha stone(emerald) for carving "jaganmata",but now in vijayawada on the banks of river krishna, mother goddess has evolved in marakatha stone.so this nation esp this state has in its history this wonderful heritage- which needs to be preserved in golden words. in sri swamiji's words it is a wonderful blessing to have marakatha rajarajeshwari temple.here are few events related to this temple... marakatha(emerald) reminds us of kalidasa shloka" mata marakatha shyama".mother goddess ,rajarajeshwari of vijayawada has evolved in this marakatha stone.emerald is best among the navaratnas.we know of its use in ornaments. gaffur, a quarry owner in mysore found big emerald stones during excavation.sri swamijis universal brotherhood attracted and brought him close to sri swamiji. the emerald stones which were excavated from his quarry would have fetched him crores of rupees, but he felt it better to offer them to sriswamiji.he showed them to sri swamiji and was prepared to give as many as sri swamiji wanted if they would be of any purpose. in return,he didnt demand any amount,he would gladly accept whatever sriswamiji would give. sri swamiji happily accepted them. but emerald is a tough stone& difficult to carve.an expert hand and a sharp instrument may face difficulties while working on it.so none dared to come forward .lastly a sculptor muniraj from banglore had agreed ,but he was afraid of carving a big idol & almost stepped back. as if to prepare him for this project and to build his confidence sri swamiji made him carve a marakatha simhasanam(throne) earlier.sri swamiji made him comfortable by asking him to carve small small idols thus helping his hands and mind to get used to the work.he was given ample time requested by him.fine sophisticated instruments were ordered from rajasthan.these include costly diamond cutters and powders.mother godess idol carving yagna continued for 2&1/2 years.this idol is in complete accordance to the principles of shipa shastra.when we see the idol we have a feeling of seeing an idol from ancient time. according to jyoti shastra it is related to budda(mercury)planet.according to mantra shastra it is related to varahi devi.this wonderful emerald idol helps recovery from nervous problems and helps establish a balance in the body ,not only that ,it blesses with victory and has capacity to avert illeffects.so it need not be stated that because of its many uses sri swamiji has selected marakatha stone. before it was decided to install a marble idol, but sri swamiji's mind turned to emerald idol not only this sriswamiji decided to install a "srichakra" of manikya stone(ruby). interesting coincidence is that gaffur who offered the emerald stone, had a blessed oppurtunity of offering the ruby stone.manikya stone is tougher than marakatha.many stones were wasted.lastly srichakra evoled from 8" manikya stone.both idol carving and sri chakra carving went simultaneously. a shipli(sculptor)involed in carving idols of marakatha or ruby need to follow strict rituals.shilpi muniraj followed daily rituals and used to complete that days work before taking his food.ie mother goddess allowed him to work on her for only a few hours a day. even after following all the rituals stictly,he had to face many difficulties while carving the idol.10 years before starting this work he was suffering from severe back pain.before taking up this work he was almost idle due to his illhealth. so he was afraid to work on emerald stone in the beggining, his problem worsened after he started the work, afraid he fell at sri swamijis feet .sri swamiji consoled him saying"no need to be afraid of,go on with ur work,u will be freed from all ur diseases,i am here to look after,u stay in ur tapas."now when sri swamiji enquires about his back problem,he happily says he was freed from it long back.regarding other problems he says he cannot describe.when asked how he feels ,he says he has lots of satisfaction and immense happiness within. he humbly says "sriswamiji is mahashilpi, i am only an ordinary instrument in his hands". sri swamiji selected experts to work on the walls of the temple.among them are durugadda ramachari, mysore dattapeetham asthana shilpi, his son tirumalachari and potuluri achari.they all belong to allagadda.the famous sapta swara stone pillar teple in nadamantapa was sculpted by them.most of them had to face difficulties while working.but making up their minds again &again they continued the work. once in deep meditation sri swamiji had envisaged this magnificent structure ,which is now the marakatha rajarajeshwari temple in patamata.along with a marakatha idol& manikya srichakra sri swamiji decided the temlpe tower to be of the shape of sumeru sri chakra.one can also see north indian style of carvings on the walls of the temple.whole temple construction was according to sri swamijis envisaged plan.sri swamiji says anushtana conducted under sumeru shikara(gopuram) is more powerful than meditation under a pyramidal spire. according to aghama shastra shikara top is like head, its front round structure is like skull, garbhalaya is upper part of body, dhwaja sthambam is vertebral column. sri swamiji thought beyond this.in sri vidya, sri chakram is representation of mother goddess , so if shikara is made of sri chakra ,temple itself becomes a form of mother goddess. according to mantra shastra,in corners of sri chakra and dhalalu reside many gods .similarly there is relationship between sri chakra nava avarnas and satchakras in human body.so main deities in sri chakra are carved on the walls of the temple.similaly shilpaputri, chandraghanta, skanda mata navadurgas are carved.alsobhupuram, shodashadalapadmam, astadalapadmam navaavarnas and muladhara, swadishtana, manipurakam etc shatcakras are carved. some more information related to mantra shastra is depicted on the walls. stone was selected to costruct a dhawajastamba.totally in other words the whole temple is a representation of srividya. 3&1/2 feet idol of mother goddess in marakatha is not there any where on this land.for such mother such a temple is nowhere.as this was envisaged by sri swamiji there cannot be any such temple anywhere,if there is any it would be only after the one in vijayawada.this is truth .....truth....truth....this fact has to be stated with pride by vijayawada.there is only one kohinoor and only one marakatha temple. our sadguru had taken all pains for us devotees.mother goddess which has evolved for us with so much background has to be in all resplendence and glory for eons to go.so let us all make up our minds to do whatever we can according to our capability to become life members for nityapujas. i am sure not only we ,but our generations to come will have satisfaction of being a part of this historical heritage. may we all have marakatha rajarajeshwari and our beloved sadguru blessings. sri guru datta vijayashri Tax Center - forms, calculators, tips, more http://taxes./ Quote Link to
