Jaya Guru Datta, gdass at will today start Lessons from Bhagavat

Geeta series. If you want to follow you can reply to this message. There will be

1 mailing per day(given servers are working correctly), of approximately 500

words. Also a picture of Sri Swamiji will be added to every post. If you want to

join, PLEASE take into consideration, that "food should not be offered to those

who are not hungry". A solution for this is (perhaps) the offering of regular

feedback, by which my, your and our understading of the contents will surely

grow. "If you share you will get more". Sri Guru Datta, Win.

LESSONS FROM BHAGAVAD GITA – 1

As taught by Parama Pujya Sri Swamiji

Compiled by: Swami Dattananda Bhakti Mala, January 1992

God may visit us at any time in any guise. A householder will keep his house

clean and keep everything ready for a visit of an important guest. In the same

way, a devotee of God makes himself pure in thought, word and deed and gets

ready to receive his life. He frees himself from the shackles of evil habits

and cultivates good qualities. Thus he remains ever vigilant not to miss the

divine grace.

However intelligent one may be, if one is not vigilant, one is easily knocked

out of his path by the mire of delusion. The senses are so powerful as to draw

away the mind from his chosen divine ideal. Therefore, night and day, at all

times and under all circumstances, vigilance is necessary to preserve the mind

from lapsing into impurities. The devotee therefore, remembering always the key

word ‘vigilance’, should engage himself in practices to discipline his mind and

keep it always pure and sublime.
