Guest guest
Namaste Nurcarnation, Amrta-swarupa ca Verse 3 Amrta –swarupa (nature of immortality) ca (also) This (bhakthi) is also of the nature of immortality By using the word ca which means "also" the sage have intertwined both the second definition with the first .Thus now both verse must be read together to further define what is meant by bhakthi .Remember , earlier it was mentioned as prema swarupa and now it means amrta swarupa also . Thus the nature of true devotion is one of immortality. In others words the nature of true devotion or supreme love to God is forever. This is where it distinguishes itself from ordinary love which would not continue uninterruptedly. Now what is the difference here with material love ; In material love person who is experiencing love and person loved are limited. Thus it ends with this person – interrupted flow It is bound by temporary things ,limited by time ,circumstances, expectation and object towards which loves flows- interrupted flow The verse says "nature of" bhakthi but did not say bhakthi " is " supreme immortal love towards Him .What this means is that material love and devotion looks the same but not the same which means - is not exactly that but similar to that . So be careful of what you see and do .You might see the Master doing something. Please do not try to do it without his prior instruction. Today a lot of spiritual aspirant sees the sages and saints doing something and tries to imitate them. If they see a sage crying they try to cry as well. If they see the saint offering blood they offer blood as well without understanding the internal reason for Him to do so nor obtaining his instruction to do so .Let me share a story to illustrate this point to you ; A sage was on top of mountain meditating and because of the interruption of the wild animals nearby his meditation hut, he bought a dog to stand guard and without unobstructed meditation now he attained enlightenment and left his body .. The next day the entire villagers near by the market went to the dog seller and bought dog each for their meditation because they taught it is necessary for realization as the sage did so. They did not ask the sage (as he is not alive now) nor assessed their level of spiritual competency for the requirement nor consulted proper guru. (Actually as they stayed in the village together they did not need a dog as no wild animal will come to the village below the mountain !!!!!! In fact because there was so many dogs in their vicinity of the houses there was so much barking all through the day) This is called blind following. Another factor that need to be assessed is your level of competency a consideration that only a guru can make . Listen to this story; a sage went asking alms to devotee in a village and because of his spiritual greatness the devotees from all the houses started offering fruit juices and also herbal drink to him . The disciples who came with him felt irritated because the devotee after serving their master only served plain water to them . They wondered what is the difference as they also felt as thirsty as their master . Furthermore they taught why does a spiritual master of that level need to be treated differently. Aren’t he suppose to be not attached and could be treated just the same . The Master understood what was in their heart. Just than they reached a cobbler house and the cobbler had nothing to offer . The Master said offer whatever that makes you happy to give my child and the cobbler offered the hot iron liquid and the Master drank them happily . That is when the disciple became glad they were not offered what was offered to their Master as well. Thus the competency level in spiritually also must be considered before imitating the great sages (are we in same level with the great sage in spiritual practice ). Don’t imitate their ways but follow their teachings ……… Thus in Bhakthi it might look that you understand what the sage feel (the love ) but remember it is only of the nature of supreme love . If you want to experience the same nature you got to practice the spiritual practice for it ………..
