Guest guest
Namaste Alobarji, New Orleans! Wowwww! This place is right next to my heart too after seeing some postcards and photos from a friend who visited America. Admire the charms of the place, especially the old quarters. Mardi Gras is big in Sydney too but unfortunately, the folks here have never adorned Ganesh befitting His Lordship during any parades. Dumbos over here, most of us are.. I feel I have a close relationship with some gods & goddesses -- Ganesh being a prime example -- but I do not worship. Maybe I can be likened to a kid with a crush on a teacher, or like I have a real loving bond with an older sibling. Maybe like the love I have for sunsets or the awe I have for hurricanes. > > I have an altar to Ganesh, but I cover it with whatever it feels to me Ganesh would like. I live in New Orleans & Mardi Gras is a big art of local life, so Ganesh is festooned with beads & is wearing a feathered mask. As Yuletide approaches, Ganesh wears a Santa hat. Ganesh likes money, so he wears a necklace of paper money & has a pot of coins before him. But all is done in playful respect. I feel like a kid again around Ganesh even as he teaches me to bear the responsibilities of being an adult. Same is true of other deities as well. It is about me opening my heart up to have a personal relationship with them. > > Alobar
Guest guest
The Hindus here have a Ganesh float for Mardi Gras. Other parades have caught on & also include Ganesh. I am fortunate to live in such an eclectic city. Alobar - syzenith .au Saturday, June 09, 2001 8:56 PM Bill's story & Sy's tale.... Namaste Alobarji,New Orleans! Wowwww! Guest guest
Salutations Alobarji, I am never envious of anything or anyone but now I'll have to say: Gee, I'm damned envious and wish I'm in New Orleans too. You are indeed blessed to live in such an eclectic city. Om Ganesh Sy ================================ , "Alobar Greywalker" <alobar@b...> wrote: > The Hindus here have a Ganesh float for Mardi Gras.
