Guest guest
Thanks Rajat, I had an idea what the mudras were, but am glad to know what the word itself means. We Catholic have mudras too. We have certain positions of the fingers that have complex and profound meanings. We have mudras for giving blessings, for personal prayers and also for mental prayer techniques. we also have so many sacred gestures that i don't even know them all. i guess this goes into asana. but then i am not sure what asana is entirely, but isn't that like different bodily postures, sort of like body mudras? me just thinking outloud. but the catholics are really into the physical body, they believe it shows forth the spiritual world. to the catholic mind, the body is a temple of god, so therefore our motions and postures often speak something about god. one 'mudra' if you will permit me to use the term, we employ is bringing the thumb, index and middle fingers together and folding the lst two fingers down. in this form the three joined fingers remind us of the three persons of the Christian god. The two downward pointing fingers remind us that Yesu was an incarnation of God. This is just one of hundreds. It's neat to learn about these things.
