You are right, the word "Islam" means "Submission" and in this

regard, "Submission to God", not to warfare, fundamentalism, fanatism

or extremism.

Sy, this is terrible! How sad! It is terrible to think that a great

creation like a Mosque, which was put together in order to bring

people in to a holy space (not the building, but the ordered space

for conceiving of the Deity), was disrespected or misunderstood and

destroyed. This is a shame. I will pray for the Muslims of Brisbane.

 

You are right about Islam meaning submission. If you break the word

down more it also is connected to the root for peace (salamm).
