Guest guest
i just thought i'd pop in again to ask for some feedback from you guys. i'm sorta working on a little personal research-y type project, and i was hoping some of you might have some info to help me along. i'm looking into deities from various cultures, and plants (herbs, grasses, trees, fruit, ANYTHING botanical) that are considered sacred to them, or are somehow connected with their worship. so far, i've come across a lot of interesting connections between deities from several cultures and the plant world, but not that much in the way of hindu deities. other than tulsi (krishna, vishnu, and shiva), hibiscus (kali), sesame, lotus, wood apple, coconut, plum, green gram (ganesha), jasmine and rudrakshas (shiva), i haven't come across many connections between hindu deities and plants that are sacred to them, or used in offerings, worship, etc. not only am i interested in *what* plants might have some significance to particular deities, but also as to *why* and *how* those connections came about. i'm really hoping i'm making some sort of sense, and not being too rambly...again, if anyone has any info, it'd be greatly appreciated...thanks in advance! jai ganesha! jaeraeth
