Hi Bill and Friends,

Found this poem in the Pagan "Crystal Sands' Catazine" and thought

I'd share it here:

Poetry by Elizabeth Barette:

Monkeyshines

Ho, Hanuman,

Of all creatures most clever!

Your antics make the gods laugh

And the demons weep;

Your tail frightens the dragons

And your dancing disturbs the ocean;

Golden your complexion as the rising sun

And sweet your words like the lotus bloom.

When evil Ravana kidnapped Rama's wife,

Sita of the soft furrows,

You came to the rescue;

When she-devils trapped Tripitaka

At the Filth Cleansing Spring,

You came to the rescue;

With riddles, diversions, and clever devices

You always save the day.

Now take delight

In the praises we offer you

And the shiny things we lay on the altar;

Lend us your aid, Hanuman,

And quicken our wits.

With your magic stick,

Beat the enemies from our door

That we may laugh with the gods

In your honor.

===========

Om,

Sy

Thanks SY, loved this poem. It had the right playful yet devotional

quality to it. As soon as I can get to a scanner I'll have to send

you all my new drawing of Ganesh I did. He is holding a shell in one

hand and I think a bowl of sweets in the other. I did this drawing

totally from my own imagination and so it might not look like other

traditional images. Hope I can find a scanner soon.

Later, Bill
