Hi Group,

I see we have a few new members, welcome! I have been away for

sometime!

Sy, don't worry too much about the 'protein' material :) Take your

time.

I have also been busy. Last weekend, I went to Rochester, Buffalo and

Niagara Falls (US side). Mostly to see my college, University at

Buffalo. IT was a nice reunion for me. Mostly an interesting thing

happened in Rochester. I went to a temple (Sri vidya - Goddess

Kamakshi is the main goddess - diety) and there I realized something

from long back. I am not sure if I told this group, one reason I

came to Ganesha, was because about 5 years ago, I had a dream of

Ganesha, my friend and I travelled from Syracuse NY to Buffalo NY and

stopped in Rochester (on the way) and there we drove through the

country and saw a very unassuming barn-shed structure and Ganesha (a

large statue on a chariot) was there. I went to pray to it and as

soon as I did, a few old Indian ladies came and took it inside the

barn. I don't care much for the meaning of the ending, it is the

setting I am worried about.

This temple I went to in Rochester last weekend looked similiar in

appearance and location to that in my dream! You could not tell it is

a temple if you drove by it, one part is the big barn-shed and the

other is an elongated shorter longer building (both look rustic, like

barns) They are two separate buildings. Anyhow, it turns out these

buildings used to be horse barns before they were temples. I also met

an American girl there, she was insari and big kum kum on her

forehead. She is married to an Indian (calcutta) and they live in

connecticut (about 10 hour drive from this temple) but come to this

temple for volunteering on weekends. She works for an Indian clothes

company called fab india. This is famous in India.

Anyhow the temple was unlike anyother I have been to in the US. Most

idols, except Kamakshi, a ganesha and another sitting to her side

were gold plated (the three above were granite) so everything glowed,

it was a small room, maybe 30ft by 80 ft and it was crowded of idols.

It was very different and serence. They offered us tea and were very

nice and friendly, talking to us. This is also different of temples

in US, mostly people do not talk to you in temples, they keep to

their own business, so I enjoyed it very much.

Well.. not much else on my side.

Jennifer
