Guest guest
Luckily, I have met an indian lady in my town. My town is very small -only about 30K people. She is a punjabi. She wants to invite me to her house for dinner - and she will make idli dosa! She informed me of the Odissi dance, tommorrow, which I am going to. I am excited -cause it gives me chance to wear sari! I will dress my mom in Salvaar Kamiz. Then I also found out next week in a town about 1 hr south they are having south Asian film festival. That sounds very interesting!<<<<< How did it all go? Bet your mom and yourself had a wonderful time! Sy- yes, I feel the same way! I would love to settle in India. I wish it were more practical than impractal for me- especially at this stage of life! <<<<< Likewise for me Jen.. I can only keep dreaming and hope for it to come true one day by the Grace of Lord Ganesha! I was in North India in 1980 and that was not the place for me but the South is paradise from what I gather. I heard of An American who did that- he got only about 500 month from social security (dollars) which is hard to live on in US- he is retired and living somewhere in Chennai- that is about 2-3 times more than a majority of the people make! So, he lives quite well there!<<<< Thanks for telling me about this American man in Chennai. Its given me a lot of encouragement. Is there any opportunity for you to rent Indian films in your place?<<<< There's a "trendy" New-Agey suburb in Sydney known as "Newtown" where Indian videos can be found. There are Indian grocers, sari shops, sweet shops, artefact shops etc. Other than the grocers, the rest charge an arm & a leg compared to the prices in India. Haven't been to Newtown for about 2 years as I live a distance from it. Aum Ganesh, Sy Tax Center - online filing with TurboTax
Guest guest
Sy and All! Hi. Yes, I have uploaded images to the files section- they all start with the title VINAYAKA (as this is one of Lord Ganesh's names) and have a number after them. Hope you all get a chance to see them- there are some nice images from temples, homes, and shops in Chennai. >south they are having south Asian film festival. That sounds very >interesting!<<<<< How did it all go? Bet your mom and yourself had >a wonderful time! Due to unfortunate luck we did not go for that! We did go to an Odissi dance. Sorry if I already mentioned this- it was fabulous. The man danced with such devotion to Lord Jagannathan. (Orissa and North Indian god) I met a Tamil family there- and hopefull can get Tamil lessons from someone! There is a new temple opened up near by and maybe thinking of Going for Ramanavami. >and hope for it to come true one day by the Grace of Lord Ganesha! I >was in North India in 1980 and that was not the place for me but the >South is paradise from what I gather. I haven't lived in North- how long did you stay? I was there for three weeks totally in different places- as you say I agree- it is also not the place for me- to live! Visiting was not so pleasant due to the rowdies up there. Lambodara - Hi Thanks for sharing your comments on my site. Actually recently I have restructured my site into frames- here is the URL http://members.tripod.com/~jennifer_polan You need to choose frames or no frames version. Hope you all enjoy! I guess the Thaipusam site is popular- anything with fanatacism is always targetted for attention. I don't agree with body mutilation- though I do agree with some of the philosophy behind it. Well- Wishing everyone the new year- it is Tamil and Telugu and Kannada (know as Ugadi for the two last) New Year this weekend. Bye for now, Jennifer
