Guest guest
I am hoping that you my fellow Ganesha bhakthas are well. The recent question posted by leopards_skin regarding " Skinny Ganesha made me refer to the book Ganesha Studies of an Asian God edt. Robert L Brown. in chapter 8 Ganesha in South Asian Art: Indian Connections and Indigenous Developments. Here Brown discusses the cultural and art aesthetic in Indonesian countries such as Cambodia,Thailand and Vietnam where Sir Ganesha appears in a thinner more naturalistic form with a head and ear shape as well style and type of decoration that is different from the large full bodied Ganesha of India. I have also seen this skinny Ganesha in some of the Japanese art. It would seem that as Ganesha's worship spread to other countries the depiction of Him was influenced by local custom, that is what I gleaned from the book and its photos and illustrations. This may be one answer to the question of Skinny Ganesha. Jai Sri Ganesha Lambodara Das Do You ? Guest guest
Namaste and thank you Lambodara Das. I earlier tried to post a message that I had uploaded 2 photos I had of this kind of representation of Ganesha. I did not realize the pictures of the group were in the Files section, and I put these in the Photos section.
