Guest guest
BTW how did you get to Bihar ;-)<<<<< Was in Bangkok around May 15 or May 17th 1980 killing time holed up in a hotel waiting for a flight into Calcutta. There was an airport strike in Calcutta for quite some time. Got fed up and hopped on a flight to Kathmandu. From there it was onto a light aircraft (never fly one of them again - real shudders) to Patna. I would aviod that place, but how was it!?<<<<< That was 1980 so it was a tiny air-field strip, tin-roof building for an airport, dirt everywhere, poor kids everywhere. Plenty of rickshaw men outside the place haggling. Spoke no Hindi nor local lingo but picked the man with kindly eyes who seemed to understand where I wanted to be taken to. Got dropped off at a hotel (ugly outside), no lights on inside, dark as hell, ranted and raved in my own language at the counter till a fellow with a turban came down with a lamp. Some gesticulating, handed over some currency after the guy wrote out the amount in numbers on a sheet of paper. Got shown to the most wonderful hotel room I'd ever experienced in all of India!! Plush furnishings, antique English wash-basin, beautiful lamps and it was like being in the room of a Rajah. I was astounded. It was like a dream and strangely enough I'd dreamt of being in such a room months before I got there. I would like to see some things in North India, but unfortunately I need to go with males to protect me from the roudies there. God only knows my fate in India!!!Jennifer<<<<<< Unfortunately the North has changed so much since I was last there. I doubt I would recognize much of it if I go there again now. Yes, these days one will need males for protection in certain parts. Om Shanti, Sy Games - play chess, backgammon, pool and more
