Guest guest
Namaste All, The source for this story is Hindu Press International, http://www.HinduismToday.com/hpi/ In January of 2002 it was reported that a episode of the TV show "Friends" had a cast member kick a staute of Lord Ganesha, Several years ago DisneyLand in Los Angeles had a statue of Sri Ganesha placed in a "junk pile" in view of patrons waiting in line, complaints by hindus and others got no response until a letter writing campaign was started...finally after many months of pressure the statue was placed in a more respectful setting within the park. I have read of Lord Ganesha being used in beer adverts in Britian,Here in the USA, I have seen Hindu Icons appear on such items as shoes, lunchbox and even toilet seats. Here in the West the Hindu images are not meaningful to non hindus and mistakes are made, other times the insult is deliberate, ie toilet seats. When I ask people about placing Lord Jesus on sneakers, beer cans,etc...they seem to get the point. As the world becomes smaller and cultures clash, the fight for tolerance and respect becomes more important. I am so very much encouraged by our Ganesha family of many creeds, colors, and nations, you all inspire me and brighten my day.
