I haven't known about this form of Ganapati until now. As always, sincere

thanks for taking time to share your wisdoms.

I'm deeply sorry to hear you walk with a cane due to a deteriorated hip. Hope

you've sought appropriate treatment. From my heart, I wish you well and May

Ganesh guide you to the time when you can throw that cane away without looking

back. May He watch over you always.

Its amazing to hear about the 5 faces and trunks resembling a pentagram when

viewed from above! Shall try to scour around some places to see if they have

the Heramba Ganapati under 8 inches..... If they do, will let you know at

once.

With His image imprinted on your heart, its what I call a form of "internal

worship". All paths and practices lead to the summit, some take a little

longer others not. Regardless, the Lord sees and knows. As He lives in your

heart, you are one with Him. Eternal blessings.

Jai Sri Ganeshaya

Heramba Ganapati is a form of Ganesha reputed to be a special protectorof the

handicapped (I walk with a cane, due to a deteriorated hip). Hehas a snowy

complexion, five elephant heads, ten hands, and rides on alion (instead of the

usual rat). Often, he's holding a beautiful femaleconsort on his left

knee.Nobody knows for sure where the name Heramba comes from. Some say it's

atribal word for "water buffalo." Others note that the Mother Goddess

hasseveral similar names: Amba, Ambika, Ambalika. His mantra is <om gamnamah>

-- so the mysterious name Heramba doesn't even figure in hisworship! The five

heads, which are colored similarly to the five faces ofSada-Shiva, may be

configured in different ways. They can be three in abottom tier, one above

them, and a smaller head at the apex. Or fourfaces in the cardinal directions,

and one looking upwards. Or all fiveequally distributed at the same level.

(When seen from above, the fivefaces and trunks resemble a five-pointed star,

or pentagram!)I've seen large bronze images of Heramba, two feet high or more,

designedfor temples. I wish I could find a small bronze Heramba, under 8

inches, suitable for my small home shrine. Meanwhile, I try to keep his

imageenshrined in my heart.-- Len/ Kalipadma
